Im Hangar von Buffalo Airways werden indes bei bitterer Kälte wichtige Reparaturen an einer Militärmaschine vorgenommen. Und Joe fliegt nach Kalifornien, um auf eine Flotte Löschflugzeuge zu bieten, doch der Wettbewerb ist härter als gedacht.

Die Doku-Serie "Ice Pilots" handelt von einer unorthodoxen Fluggesellschaft im Norden Kanadas. Die in Yellowknife stationierte Buffalo Airways fliegt Propeller-Flugzeuge aus dem Zweiten Weltkrieg und versorgt so weit entfernte Außenposten mit lebenswichtigen Gütern. Die abenteuerlustigen Piloten trotzen dabei eisigen Temperaturen und Unwettern, um Menschen und Frachten über die Arktis zu fliegen.
