Der kälteste Winter seit 22 Jahren hat Nord-Kanada im Griff. Doch nicht nur die damit verbundenen Probleme gehen an die Substanz der Crew. Als Joes letzte DC-3 den Geist aufgibt, soll seine ehemaliger Pilot Devan Brooks eine andere Maschine aus Quebec holen - die war jedoch seit sieben Jahren nicht in der Luft.

Die Doku-Serie "Ice Pilots" handelt von einer unorthodoxen Fluggesellschaft im Norden Kanadas. Die in Yellowknife stationierte Buffalo Airways fliegt Propeller-Flugzeuge aus dem Zweiten Weltkrieg und versorgt so weit entfernte Außenposten mit lebenswichtigen Gütern. Die abenteuerlustigen Piloten trotzen dabei eisigen Temperaturen und Unwettern, um Menschen und Frachten über die Arktis zu fliegen.
