Der Audi 50 wurde im September 1974 der Fachpresse präsentiert. Die quer eingebauten Vierzylinder mit 0,9 bis 1,3 Litern Hubraum leisten 40 bis 60 PS und haben mit dem knapp 700 Kilo schweren Auto leichtes Spiel. Außerdem: Maybach, die alte Marke aus dem frühen 20. Jahrhundert, wurde von Daimler wiederbelebt. Seit Ende 2002 werden die ersten Luxus-Limousinen an sehr solvente Kunden ausgeliefert.
