Die Erderwärmung destabilisiert den Boden und löst eine gefährliche Kettenreaktion aus. Häufigere und intensivere Erdrutsche und Schlammlawinen bedrohen zunehmend ganze Gemeinden. Starke Regenfälle verstärken diese Risiken und führen zu katastrophalen Trümmerströmen, die ganze Regionen verwüsten können. Besonders schwer betroffen sind Gebiete wie Kalifornien und British Columbia in Kanada, wo bereits dramatische Zerstörungen stattgefunden haben.
