Hannah Fry erkundet Island, ein Land aus Feuer und Eis, in dem Naturgewalten den Alltag prägen. Auf der Reykjanes-Halbinsel trifft sie Wissenschaftler, deren präzise Lava-Prognosen die weltberühmte Blaue Lagune retteten. Außerdem besucht sie eine futuristische Algenfarm, die mithilfe von Geothermie betrieben wird, und erfährt später, wie der kleine isländische Genpool die globale Gesundheitsforschung voranbringt. Zwischen schwarzen Sandlandschaften und uralten isländischen Sagas erlebt Hannah ein Volk, das tief verwurzelt mit der rauen Natur ist - und daraus Kreativität schöpft.
